To get started with COSIMA, you should:
- Talk with your supervisor about NCI project compute time;
- Get an NCI account ;
- Request to join data and infrastructure projects: hh5, ik11, cj50;
- Get a forum account and introduce yourself;
- Click “Watch” on the COSIMA announce page to get updates (more details here);
- Watch the COSIMA introduction video (in progress);
- Read the ethics statement.
To engage with COSIMA and ACCESS NRI, you might like to:
- Come along to our regular weekly meetings (announced here, schedule here);
- Join in on our ACCESS-NRI COSIMA 2025 training program (starting Feb 2025);
- Join in the COSIMA conversations on the ACCESS-Hive Forum;
- Let us know what you’re currently working on, add your project to the COSIMA projects spreadsheet (discussed quarterly at the COSIMA weekly meeting);
- Come along to our next COSIMA workshop (Melbourne on 8-12th September, 2025);
- Contribute your model analysis code to the COSIMA Cookbook;
- Have a look at our published data in the COSIMA Model Output Collection;
- Use or contribute to the ACCESS-OM2 (see how to run doc) and ACCESS-OM3 model suites;
- Have a look at our published papers (and add yours);
- Use this form to tell ACCESS-NRI that you are using ACCESS-NRI infrastructure.
Acknowledgements
If you used or benefited from the COSIMA and/or ACCESS-NRI community, either the models, or outputs, or analysis tools, or workflows they have provided, then we would expect you to give an acknowledgment. A suggested acknowledgement is below. Please modify as needed, especially text within angle brackets:
This work was supported by computational resources provided by the Australian Government through the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) under the <National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme> and/or <ANU Merit Allocation Scheme>. We thank the vibrant communities of the Consortium for Ocean–Sea Ice Modelling in Australia (COSIMA; cosima.org.au) and the Australian Community Climate and Earth System Simulator National Research Infrastructure (ACCESS-NRI; access-nri.org.au) for making the <ACCESS-OM2> and/or <ACCESS-OM3>, <models> and/or <outputs> and/or <analysis tools> available through the NCI. COSIMA is funded through the Australian Research Council grant LP200100406.
Wondering if you need to acknowledge ACCESS-NRI? As of Dec 2024, the following services are maintained by ACCESS NRI: Payu, hh5, intake catalogue, new COSIMA recipes, ACCESS-OM2 and ACCESS-OM3 executables and configurations, access hive docs and forum, and inputs forcing files.
If you use a recipe from the COSIMA Cookbook for your research or teaching, or have based your analysis on one of the recipes, we would be grateful if you could cite https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14353853.
