\nSea-Ice Modelling Workshop<\/p>\n

When: 19-20 Feb 2019 – UPDATED<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where: ACE CRC, Hobart, Tasmania

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together the (Australian) community interested in sea-ice modelling and related aspects. This includes modelling efforts under the COSIMA and\/or ACCESS initiatives, sea-ice assimilation or forecasting, sea-ice model parameterizations as well as process related modelling studies, such as ice-floe distribution, turbulence in sea-ice drift or wave-ice interaction. There will be discussion on requirements for observational data for model verification and assimilation.<\/p>\n

We note that this workshop has been scheduled to coincide with the visit of Dr Elizabeth Hunke from the Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA. Elizabeth has been the lead developer for the Los Alamos Sea Ice Model (CICE), and is now heading the CICE Consortium in sea-ice model development.<\/p>\n

We invite contributions for oral or poster presentation covering the following aspects with focus on sea-ice modelling:<\/p>\n

\u2022 stand-alone and coupled sea-ice modellings;
\n\u2022 sea-ice processes and feedbacks;
\n\u2022 observational and\/or model studies of sea-ice trends and variability;
\n\u2022 observations for models (incl. verification);
\n\u2022 data assimilation and forecasting;
\n\u2022 predictability; and
\n\u2022 user needs.<\/p>\n

Pls reply to me by 15 Dec 2018, if you are interested to attend. — Pls note that the SAM cluster workshop<\/a> will be held right after the sea-ice workshop. We plan to hold a joint session on Wed (20 Feb) morning.<\/p>\n

Also, if you cannot travel to Hobart, but would like to participate via remote access, pls let me know too.<\/p>\n
