PhD Top-up Scholarships for Ocean and Sea Ice Modelling<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Are you interested in understanding ocean\u00a0physics, and\u00a0do you\u00a0have skills in computational\/mathematical modelling?\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Consortium for Ocean-Sea Ice Modelling in Australia <\/span>is\u00a0providing opportunities for\u00a0PhD students to work at the intersection of high-performance computing and ocean-climate dynamics.\u00a0Projects are available\u00a0focusing on\u00a0a\u00a0wide\u00a0range\u00a0of topics, including:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. The role of sea ice in the climate\u00a0system;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Modelling biogeochemical cycles in the global\u00a0ocean;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Coupling between surface waves and large-scale\u00a0currents;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Antarctic ice shelves and their interaction with the Southern Ocean; and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. The sensitivity of ocean dynamics to vertical coordinate systems in ocean models.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These scholarships are valued at $7,500 per year for 3.5\u00a0years.\u00a0Successful applicants will also need to be successful in receiving\u00a0a Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship, or equivalent primary scholarship, at\u00a0a\u00a0COSIMA\u00a0partner\u00a0university\u00a0(ANU, UNSW,\u00a0UTas,\u00a0USyd,\u00a0UniMelb\u00a0or U Adelaide).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
