{"id":1063,"date":"2020-06-16T16:53:41","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T06:53:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cosima.org.au\/?p=1063"},"modified":"2025-10-29T09:26:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T22:26:19","slug":"updated-cosima-cookbook-default-database","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cosima.org.au\/index.php\/2020\/06\/16\/updated-cosima-cookbook-default-database\/","title":{"rendered":"Updated COSIMA Cookbook default database"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/COSIMA\/cosima-cookbook\">COSIMA Cookbook<\/a>\u00a0is the recommended, and supported, method for finding and accessing COSIMA datasets.<\/p>\n<p>Currently COSIMA datasets are located in temporary storage under the <tt>hh5<\/tt> project on the <tt>\/g\/data<\/tt> filesystem at NCI. The default COSIMA Cookbook database (<tt>\/g\/data\/hh5\/tmp\/cosima\/database\/access-om2.db<\/tt>) indexes data in this location.<\/p>\n<p>The COSIMA datasets are being moved to a new project, <tt>ik11<\/tt>: dedicated storage provided by an ARC LIEF grant. As part of this transition the default database will change to:<br \/>\n<code><br \/>\n\/g\/data\/ik11\/databases\/cosima_master.db<br \/>\n<\/code><br \/>\nand will index all data in <tt>\/g\/data\/ik11\/outputs\/<\/tt>. The database is updated daily.<\/p>\n<p>This change will take place from Wednesday the 1st of July. To access the old database pass an argument to <tt>create_session<\/tt>:<br \/>\n<code><br \/>\nsession = cc.database.create_session(db='\/g\/data\/hh5\/tmp\/cosima\/database\/access-om2.db') <\/code><\/p>\n<p>or set the <tt>COSIMA_COOKBOOK_DB<\/tt> environment variable, e.g. for <tt>bash<\/tt><br \/>\n<code><br \/>\nexport set COSIMA_COOKBOOK_DB=\/g\/data\/hh5\/tmp\/cosima\/database\/access-om2.db <\/code><\/p>\n<p>In the same way the new <tt>ik11<\/tt> database can be accessed by using the path to it (<tt>\/g\/data\/ik11\/databases\/cosima_master.db<\/tt>) in the same manner as above.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The COSIMA Cookbook\u00a0is the recommended, and supported, method for finding and accessing COSIMA datasets.
